Secured passwords are stressing consumers

Cybersecurity is a stressful job, but now the cyber-stress is now affecting the consumer realm: 81% of Americans and 72% of Canadians report that news of data breaches stresses them out.
A new report, named Cyber-Stress, found that consumers’ lack of awareness of how to protect themselves from online cyber attacks is increasing stress levels around technology usage and cybersecurity as a whole.

Choosing secured passwords is overwhelming too for most of the consumers. Password security is a challenge for anyone who needs to ensure that end users are creating strong passwords and not sharing them with others. From the 2,000 survey participants, nearly half (46%) of them aged 16 to 24 said that they often find it stressful to manage the number of passwords they have.

Many malicious cyber attacks can also be repealed by installing a cybersecurity solution like an antivirus for Windows or antivirus for Mac, depending on which OS their device is running. Besides this, a company must hire a cybersecurity firm that will launch on purpose various attacks on company’s network to reveal its flaws.
Getting with the demands of protecting themselves against cyber-threats can be one of the major causes of stress-related diseases. When people feel unsafe or feel that situations are over their heads, they feel unable to keep up with the pace of change, something that is inherent in our constantly-connected, digital lifestyle.

As a result of their increased levels of stress, consumers are growing more judicious about where they share their information.
When asked which industries they mostly likely trust with their data, one in five respondents (22%) admitted that they would not rely on any sector. Additionally, just 7% of people stated that they would trust password management software with their online account or app login details.

Despite the high levels of stress and the desire to be more selective about with whom they share their personal information, many people still have no idea how to begin securing their devices from these threats, or what to do if they become a victim. Because of this, the very concept of cyber security becomes completely overwhelming.
Security awareness training programs are one way to educate consumers about cyber-threats and how to avoid them.

To reduce and eventually eliminate all the risk of this kind of cybersecurity problems practice good cyber security habits, update your apps and OSs to latest versions available and implement a robust cybersecurity solution into your devices like an antivirus for Windows or antivirus for Mac depending on which OS is your machines running. We also recommend every company to hire a specialized cybersecurity firm that will perform various tests like a penetration test and various ethical hacking tests on company’s network to reveal if any network flaws are present.
For companies that exist 100% online, we recommend the using of cyber-secured web hosting services.
