Cryptojacking and mobile malware are the top treading threats for the companies

Exploits and malware are hackers top pick when it comes to cyber attacks. From July through September, researchers have found that unique malware variants grew with 43% since the same period of 2017, while the number of malware families grew by 32%.

From all this malicious growth crypto jacking is one of the more serious threat. Many companies and users are seeing crypto jacking as nothing more than an annoyance, but this is completely wrong.
A crypto jacking malware is not just an annoying little malware because first, it managed to got into your network meaning that any other threat could reach it too. Second, crypto-jacking malware is slowing down your antimalware software and breaking down your firewall by communicating with C&C.

In addition, crypto jacking will become a bigger threat în time because can be updated with ransomware and other malware.
Remember everything can be hacked. In order to stay away from any threats related to the cyber world, we recommend the install of antivirus for Windows or antivirus for Mac on every device that you own, depending on which OS your device is running. If you are a company, it is also recommended to hire every year a specialized cybersecurity company that will run annual tests on your company’s network. These tests include penetration testing and ethical hacking tests;

Another threat that is on the rise in mobile malware. More and more hackers are becoming aware that mobile devices are now like a computer. Since everybody continues to see them just as phones, users tend to let their guard down, and the hackers are counting on that. From all the mobile malware growth, 14% are Android-related.

Nowadays hackers will start their mobile spear-phishing attacks around lunchtime when the victims are on their mobile phone. Hackers like mobile environments because is more difficult to fully vet an email message on a small mobile screen than on the screen attached to a desktop computer.
The only positive news, that comes from the researchers, is that the percentage of encrypted network traffic continues to rise, reaching 72% in the third quarter of 2018, up from 55% a year earlier. But this too has a downside because it makes malicious traffic more difficult to analyze and block.

Keep in mind that our modern society is dependent on computers, mobile devices, and the use of the internet always stay safe and secured.
We would continue to monitor this cybersecurity problem. Meanwhile, users should keep a keen eye out for any cyber attacks. Remember to use an antivirus for Windows or antivirus for Mac in every device that you own, depending on which OS your machine is running, If you are a company we recommend to hire every year a specialized cybersecurity company that will run annual tests on your company’s network, tests like this include: penetration testing and ethical hacking.
